The
Beautiful Nusa Dua Hotel
The
Nusa Dua ("two islands") Hotel and Spa is located
on the Southwestern shore of the Island of Bali, in the
"Resort Hotel" section of the island. Welcoming
each guest is a view of two giant pillars. The split pillars,
as with everything else in Bali, represent the balance of
good and evil in one's life. The left pillar is always evil,
the right pillar is always good. Which one is which, our
Balinese guide wryly observed, "depends on the direction
you're walking."
All
of our seminar meetings with our Balinese teachers and with
Joan were held outside. Most of them were held in front
of the Hotel's own private temple, in full view of this
beautiful pond.
Small
shrines with offerings of flowers and fruits to the spirits,
abound in Bali. Here, on the Hotel grounds, a very old tree
has been turned into a temple to the tree spirits. Around
the tree's trunk is the traditional black and white chequered
cloth, representing the balance of evil and good.

The
Nusa Dua Hotel is highly respected by the Balinese because
it is the only hotel which has built a Hindu temple for
its employees on the Hotel grounds. Employees are free to
enter and exit whenever they wish to make offerings of incense,
flowers, and fruit.
Most of our seminar meetings were held on the grass directly
in front of the spot pictured here.
Years
ago, when I was in La Costa in California taking an Anthony
Robbins personal development seminar, I made a promise to
myself to be conscious of looking for the most beautiful
and most enjoyable path to any place I am going. My path
to breakfast each morning, provided an opportunity to skip,
dance, or walk across these stepping stones, stretched artistically
across a beautiful lily-filled pond.
