The
Spa at the
Nusa
Dua Hotel
The
Spa at the Nusa Dua Hotel is one of the finest in Southeast
Asia. Even the Japanese, we were told, come to the Nusa
Dua when they want to visit a spa. We were thrilled at this
discovery, and did our best to experience its delights!
The
Spa offers 9 forms of massage and body work, all of it so
relaxing that most of us were speechless (can you
believe excited, accomplished, intelligent women
being speechless???!!!) after our treatments.
Here,
Arline and I wait, freshly showered, very wet-haired and
wearing our spa kimonos, for our respective masseuses. Fresh
flowers were everywhere, as were samples of Bali stone and
wood carvings. The Spa is a work of art visually.
I was
able to experience two different massages while there. The
first was the Balinese massage. My masseuse, pictured, comes
from a long family line of massage therapists. Her experienced
and sensitive fingers immediately found all the meridians
of my body and followed them skillfully through my muscle
groups. The second massage I was able to receive was a Javanese
Lulur, a magnificent 90-minute experience completed in a
bathtub full of flowers and jasmine.
All are invited to partake of the dream pools, a very hot
pool next to a very cold pool. One dips alternately for
3 dips each, ending in the cool pool. Each "stay"
in the hot pool got longer, and each "dip" in
the cool pool got shorter as we laughed, talked, and giggled!!!
