Marge - He apparently walked away from the set of "the Horse Whisperer" because he didn't believe in some of the methods they were using??
Lori - Yes, he is a communicator with people too using the same methods
Elizabeth - Marge, I read the same thing about him, regarding the Horse Whisperer. I never asked him about it, though.
Wolf - He thinks he is speaking the horse's body language - which he is - but is using intuitive skills too - he just doesn;t seem to have the vocabulary for it
Lori - yes, he doens't agree with the forms of submission people use to cause submission

Elizabeth - Lori, regarding your comment about being a communicator with people, too, there really isn't a distinction, from my viewpoint. When one communicates with an animal, it doesn't matter whether it is a human animal or another species. The communication abilities ... art and skill and science mixed ... are the same.

Elizabeth - Laura, we are ALL animals ... the several of us here tonight are "human" animals. The skills are the same for telepathic communication.
Lori - that there needs to be no violence or threat of it in a training session

Rosie Tara - He made me aware of the fact that each horse has a different personality and needs to be treated differently

Lori - with Monty's methods, in effect you are the head or alpha mare/horse
Rosie Tara - Lori, some horse owners have just HORSES and treat them all the same
Marge - re Pat and Linda ... the body language (although ever so subtle) is so clearly important! That trusting and listening to them wit your heart, tells you wht and how they're feeling, and work from there
Lori - that is the respect you gain in the roundpen with the ear locked on, coming of the edge of the pen, lowering of the head, and then the "join'-up"
Lori - true, and some parents have kids and treat them all the same
Rosie Tara - Yes, Marge, that is the beauty of taking care a horse
Lori - yes, it was quite amazing watching all the things that Parelli does, that Monty does too

Elizabeth - The core concept of all things spiritual is ‘awareness.’ So spiritual goal setting, from my viewpoint, is setting goals with awareness.
Lori - sure, I have some spiritual goal setting I would like to accomplish in the next year dealing with my parents and them not being respectful to me as a parent.
Wolf - yes!
Marge - e.g. a horse very shy of items on the ground, wasn't forced to go to it, but rather it was recognized that it was afraid or shy, and with this understanding and very slow gentle coaxing and giving the horse time, ... by the end of the evening the horse was pushing the ball around the arena! It was hilarious and beautiful!Elizabeth - Marge, is t his Parelli, you’re speaking of?

Elizabeth - There are many aspects of goal setting, of course. And most of us who sign on here, have some belief in a Higher Power, which we call by various Names.

Elizabeth - I taught corporate goal setting for years. And then I taught personal goal setting, and designing one's life, for years.

Elizabeth - And many of the wonderful aspects of goal setting ... to make sure that the goal is Specific, Measurable, Timed (meaning the “desired by when” date), Framed in the Present Tense, framed in the positive (meaning it’s worded in terms of what we want as compared to what we don’t want) and Representing a Energetic that the Unconscious Mind and the Conscious Mind together are excited about, have emotion about, can visualize, and recognize as different from what is currently so ... all these, which I’ve been teaching for decades, continue to hold very true ...

Elizabeth - However, I've noticed that even with that all being "correct", some people still don’t get their goals.
Elizabeth - I have come to believe that part of the reason is probable conflicts between beliefs and values ...

Elizabeth - And yet there seemed to be more about that, too... the probable conflicts between beliefs and values.

Elizabeth - And yesterday morning in meditation, an insight occurred, that in a flash explained why all of this may be so ...and also what to do about it.
Elizabeth - It's awareness.

Elizabeth - And even more importantly, the source of the goal.

Dee&Phoebe&Zoe - Liz- do you mean that if the source of a goal isn’t an internal one, maybe one imposed by others?
Elizabeth - Well, I've known for a long time, that we all have "masks" ... we are all made up of masks ... deep personalities ... which have sets of priorities, and sets of values, and sets of beliefs ... these "masks" surround us, a little like clothing, a little like layers of an onion, a little like hats ... and sometimes even real masks, altering our physiology.
Elizabeth - Dee, yes, I'm heading there, in a way, when one takes the perspective of where the deepest parts of us are, the truest parts of us.
Dee&Phoebe&Zoe - where the subcon. mind doesnt really want this change for itself, so it doesnt happen?
Elizabeth - Most of these "masks" were created as we were "domesticated", meaning, learning how to be in whatever culture is our "home" culture.

Elizabeth - And since most of us have many different "cultures" .. home, school, family, friends, religious or spiritual group, professional or recreational associations or groups, and many more ...

Elizabeth - All "masks" have a purpose, and the purpose is usually ecological safety and/or perceived expectation, according to some standard of balance the individual self feels is important to it.

Elizabeth - One believes one needs something and has to be a certain way with certain people in order to "get" that something ...
Elizabeth - Or one believes that one has something, and one fears losing what one perceives one has ...
Laura & Furry Kids - Mine is control, which masks a much deeper feeling of powerlessness.
Elizabeth - Or one believes one wants something, and that one has to be a certain way in order to have that fulfilled ...

Marge - Liz . and that is 'ecological safety' ?
Elizabeth - And these three ... the perceptions of needs, wants, haves ... create the "masks" of our personalities.
Laura & Furry Kids - Needs. Wants. Haves.
Elizabeth - Marge, for most people, there is a spiritual ecology, an area of safety outside of which, it is sometimes fearful to tread. This balance frequently varies from venue to venue, meaning, from work to play to religious group to other group to self, etc.
Laura & Furry Kids - Will this be another book?
Elizabeth - Laura, LOL, very likely! LOL!

Elizabeth - And then the question arises ... for any given goal ... what is the "mask" part of the personality, that wants that goal? or SAYS it wants that goal? It's an interesting question. Because when we ask it, and answer it, for ourselves, we instantly have AWARENESS, and this is of ultimate importance.
Elizabeth - With AWARENESS, we are given the opportunity to see what MASKS really have control of our minds.
Laura & Furry Kids - It's like, are we doing something for the betterment of humanity, or to have our own ego needs met.

Cheryl - So what you are saying is, reflect on the goal, as see if it appeals to our "higher self" not our physical situation

Elizabeth - Marge, yes, I feel it is huge, too. I feel very awe-filled now, I've been teaching this work for decades, and have dozens if not hundreds of books on goal setting, and none have expressed this even close to the way Grace presented it yesterday morning. Rosie Tara, yes, when we drop all the masks, what we find is a deep calm, a deep peace, which is at the heart of all of us.
Marge - Seems we really have to look deeply and truthfully to see what that mask really is
Elizabeth - Cheryl, I'm suggesting that for any goal we feel we want, to ask, which "mask" of our personality, is the source for that goal?Dee&Phoebe&Zoe - look behind the mask
Elizabeth - I'm suggesting to be AWARE of which mask it is ... bring AWARENESS to it, as much as possible.

Elizabeth - Dee, yes. Exactly where I'm heading. Because ultimately, our path is to identify and release the masks, let them go, surrender, and trust.

Elizabeth - Wolf ... you took the Spiritual Goal Setting Workshop I taught a while ago. Remember from the goal setting workshop, that the goal has to be specific. ‘Manifesting unlimited funding’ is very general.
Lori - to reconcile and find peace with my parents, them respecting the being of Me

Marge - I too would like to manifest unlimited funding so that I can do some travelling, etc.

Elizabeth - An observation arises here, that the masks frequently conflict with each other. And when we can identify the different masks of our personalities, we can be aware of which masks are the strongest for us, the ones that control us the most.
Lori - I think all of us would like that unlimited funding, and I continue to purchase my lotto tkt ;)

Elizabeth - We are unique among animals, we human animals, in that whereas other animals are born complete, we are here to grow into the awareness of our souls. But that is another topic.

Then we got an encyclopedia of dogs and looked up the form he showed each of us ... it was the same shape, but the dog he presented as in our dreams, was smaller than the breed in the encyclopedia of dogs. So it may be a breed that doesn't exist now, either because it's extinct or it doesn't exist yet in this planet ....
