DrLiz - I baked and gave out home-made chocolate chip cookies for Halloween treats this year. The kids loved them, they were running down my driveway saying, "Home made chocolate chip cookies! Hooray!" The word got out so quick I ran out of cookies pretty quickly! So then I started giving out money (first nickels, then dimes, then quarters and when I ran out of those, dollar bills!), because that's what I had in the house, and the word got out even further ... <grin> ... I had such a good time, I had at least 80 kids come! I love Halloween and I love the costumes they all wear, it was so much fun!
Suzy - I have always wanted to learn Tai Chi. I think it would be great to try! Thanks Sharon for mentioning it. :-)

Eve - It seems that you all know each other. This is my first time in the chat room. I guess in a way I am hoping for miracles. I have a very sick Siberian Husky girl... long ...long story that eventually led to her left lung being removed. Now her right lung seems to be effected by whatever destroyed her left lung. She has gone through two major surgeries and we are to the point where the conventional medicine doesn't have any more answers or suggestions and I feel completely helpless. I have rescued and helped countless dogs that no one else wanted because of their medical issues and I can't helpo my own girl. I hope the healing prayers here can perfom miracles.
Suzy - I buy mine at Wild Oats, and I know they have it at other natural food stores like Whole Foods Market. You can also get it online at petfooddirect.com I think. My cat who had FIP did soooo well on PetGuard and it gave her 7 extra months of quality life. She'd had diarrhea on the Science Diet the vet had her on and it stopped with the PetGuard. Their customer service are so nice and helpful and will send you free samples! :-)

Suzy - You're welcome Dee! I have tried so many foods and studied all about animal nutrition when my Gracie was dying. I am planning on studying to become a vet tech and pet food is on the top of my list. I really believe in the PetGuard. There are other good brands too, but this one worked best for the 6 cats I've fed it to.

Eve - no, not neoplasia. She was firs diagnosed with pneumothorax, a condition where the lung develops bulla, a blister like formation. That bulla bursts and creates a hole in the long and starts leaking air from the lung into the chest cavity consequently collapsing both lungs. Her sternum was cracked open and the infected lung lobe was removed. We thought we had it corrected but about two moths after surgery she got very sick again. We found that the left lung has completely collapsed . And there is more .......

Suzy - I wish my Misha could find a cure for her licking/scratching. She's licked off all the fur on her chest and some on her legs. She's used some homeopathic/natural remedies but none have worked yet. There has to be something....
jane - This is my own personal opinion - and I live in Louisiana - where there are no alternative vets near me - but regular vets can only offer medicine or surgery - just like for people...we need alternatives - Dr. Liz is one of them !!! - and I never really know about her until a month ago.

DrLiz - MJ, the raw foods diet is very important for dogs and cats. It clears up a lot of issues, including, frequently, licking and scratching.
Suzy - Really? Did you sister find a way to help her cat? I had a fancy blood test done by Dr Goldstein that shows what the cat nutritionally needs and he customized some drops for Misha's skin and bladder, etc. The problem is she won't eat wet food that I mix it into. I also put flower essences in her water for allergies and stress.

Suzy - The Katzenflocken is originally from Germany....tee hee! She liked the California Natural dry food too. It's hard to find around here though. She is so finicky.
Marge - Eve, if I had a problem with an animal friend, I would call Dr. Liz before any vet! I'm not kidding, ... she and her SCIO have performed miracles on me! ... so I speak from experience, just like Geri does

Eve - Another surgery was scheduled...we almost had to motgage our house...LOL!!!... a thoracoscopic surgery this time as there was no way I would let them crack open her sternum again. When they went in the left lung was very diseased and covered in blisters. Thye removed the entire lung. Histopathology found bronchopneumonia present in the lung. Mishka turned 7 last June ... she has at least 7 more to go. I never had a pet communication .... they already speak to me ...

Suzy - This chat goes by so fast....is Eve's dog named Mishka?
Eve - And more.., the first day after surgery she was in critical condition and we all thought we will loose her but she was fighting and I was fighting it with her and she came out of it... she is not ready to go... The first week after the first surgery went well... all looked good but then last tuesday we rushed her to the hospital again... she was breathing very heavily and coughing again.. X-rays revealed cloudy right lung.. this is the only lung she has left .. she is on Prednizole and Baytril.... and I think only a miracle can save her now.

Marge - She was standing near her kitchen sink. I asked her to pick up a bottle of detergent and hold it to her sternum (breast bone) holding it with both hands, and
Marge - (the detergent because it was the closest thing to her). I asked her to stand comfortably with her knees relaxed
Marge - (you have to be standing!)
Marge - holding this bottle of detergent with both hands against her sternum, I asked her to ask herself

DrLiz - RT, I touch the animal and set my intention to be a surrogate for the animal, and then test.
DrLiz - So I'm not always touching the animal at the moment of the test.

Suzy - The only reason I don't use Wysong is the corn. It made my Misha throw up. I know for other animals it works well though.
Sharon - RT I can just be near my animal, but if a few are nearby, it helps to clarify by being in touch, albeit lightly and momentarily

Suzy - There were ingredients in all the ones I saw on their website that an allergic animal might want to avoid. If there's one that you know is good I'd love to learn more.

DrLiz - Sharon, many don't refuse hand-given food, even when they know it's not good for them. But they will walk away from or refuse food placed in bowls.
Suzy - Thank you Dr Liz! I'm always looking for suggestions. I though California Natural was good with just chicken and rice but she got bladder problems so I switched her to Solid Gold. She still is on ammonil for the urine and I wish I could find a food that would keep her urine acidified

DrLiz - Porcelain can absorb toxins after a while because it's porous. Stainless steel which is washed very frequently is probably best.
Suzy - I have read stainless is ok.

Suzy - So china saucers that are washed in the dishwasher can still absorb toxins? Now I'm worried....

Sharon - ... vaccines also toxic, ectoparasite meds are neurotoxic. Yuck. Holistic vets have many more healthful options for most preventions.
Suzy - I had a plastic water bowl for awhile but my cat Thomie got chin acne and the vet said the plastic can cause that.
