Elizabeth - Marge, we did here ... 60 degrees Fahrenheit a few weeks ago ... but it's going down to 25 Fahrenheit here tonight and it's brrrrrrrr cold outside.
Marge - earlie this week we got to 14C one day, tonight we're down to -10, and by weekend it's predicted we're 16 on Sat. and 12 on Sun. And, NO snow! Unbelievable!

Marge - We've not had much snow in Jan or Feb for a couple of years now, .. it;s sometimes March or April when it comes
Marge - Liz, yes, I just got in and it really does feel cold! .. we're not used to it, lol
Elizabeth - Something that's been happening with me with the Gratitude Journal is, about a week ago I started to consciously "look" for things I am grateful for, to put in my Journal at the end of day, and that has morphed into being aware of being grateful practically all day long. It's lovely energy to be in!
Laura & Furry Kids - It makes a huge difference, doesn't it?
Elizabeth - What I mean is, I was looking "during the day" and was keeping notes of things, jotting them down, on a piece of paper, as the day was unfolding. And now that energy is near-constant.  I know soon it will BE constant!

Laura & Furry Kids - Writing down as you realize what you are grateful for!
Marge - yes Liz, it's been forcing me to look for things to be grateful for, .. things I wouldn't have thought to be grateful before ... but realize I should be grateful for them!
Elizabeth - Laura, yes, I started to keep note paper with me always, so I could jot down what I was grateful for as I was experiencing it or shortly afterwards. It's amazing how quickly doing that, morphed into being in the energy all day long.
Laura & Furry Kids - I have been reading so many books and doing so much work about financial abundance, for example, and I've been realizing how negative my thoughts have been about money, for years, without my being aware!

Elizabeth - Laura, I did almost all of Anthony Robbins’ programs over a several year period. I started out with the 3-day Personal Power program, which I did and loved. Then I did my first Date with Destiny, and then the 11-day Mastery University in Cancun, the multi-day Financial Mastery in San Diego, the Date with Destiny again, practically everything except the Fiji Island retreat.  I didn’t do that one because I balked at spending $10,000 for a weekend retreat.
Laura & Furry Kids - Liz, I'm not all the way through it yet, but I have committed to doing a chapter a day, and all of the exercises. Big goal, and I have done it. Also taking a business teleclass from Jan (janjanzen.com) which involves even more homework. Massive un-earthing.

Elizabeth - Interesting, it may not be so, that eliminating all the negative emotions leaves only positive emotions ... it may be that what happens is that balance expresses itself.
Elizabeth - And perhaps balance, expressing itself in a field without negativity, IS enlightmenment, a.k.a. God.

Marge - he replied .. "No. I don't know what will happen tonight (followed by his delightful laugh) ... and my memory of details of even what happened yesterday .. I already forgot". ... "and I always consider myself as another human being, nothing special, nothing more."

Elizabeth - I feel there is a physiology of enlightenment.
Laura & Furry Kids - Like creating a paradigm?
Elizabeth - Laura, I have a view of sin based in the Classics ... in Greek, the word for "sin" ... the word that is used in the original Greek New Testament ... is "hamartia".  One of the many blessings of my current path in this life time, is that I actually read the New Testament fully in Greek before I ever read it fully in English.  I am very grateful for my education.

Elizabeth -  Marge, thank you, this is wonderful  Laura, "harmartia" is translated as "sin", but it never meant "sin" the way this word is used now.
Dee&Phoebe&Zoe - Liz- the book i am reading suggests that God created us to learn about Himself, since he is infinite he created us to learn about himself..and we all have a purpose here that is a bit different, each one of us learns something new
Elizabeth - Dee, that is a very Kabbalistic view, and one that is repeated in other Wisdom literature, as well.
Laura & Furry Kids - What did it mean?
Elizabeth - The word "hamartia" in later Greek became used as an archery term and it meant, "to miss the mark" ...for example, to miss the bulls eye of a target. But before it meant that ...
Elizabeth - ... in earlier Greek, Attic Greek, for example, it meant to "miss the mark of keeping one's thoughts always upon God."
Laura & Furry Kids - Okay.
Elizabeth - The "ha" means, "away from" and the "martia" means "keeping one's mind in the right place, centered … which in that world then, meant thoughts of the Divine.
Laura & Furry Kids - That is beginning to sink in.
Laura & Furry Kids - Dee, also why is God referred to in this book as Him?
Elizabeth - From that viewpoint, it makes perfect sense that the blessed Virgin Mary, mother of the child Jesus, would have been born as one "without sin."
Laura & Furry Kids - Is it just out of convenience?
Marge - I guess it's always interesting to read between the lines in books as to what the author's personal view is, eh?
Elizabeth - In the days of Christ's birth, in the middle east, one who was born without sin ... without "hamartia", would have been one who had no negativity. None at all.
Dee&Phoebe&Zoe - actually God is refered to in many ways throughout the book
Laura & Furry Kids - Yeah, Marge it is. Right now I'm just taking in what works for me and discarding what doesn't.
Laura & Furry Kids - Aren't we all born without hamartia?
Elizabeth - Laura, in the original texts, even in the original wisdom literature of Christianity, in the Essene gospels, for example, God is always referred to as Holy Father/Sacred Mother. It was NEVER just a "He".

Elizabeth - Laura, there is one philosophy, the tabula rasa, which basically means "clean slate", which suggests were are born without sin. There is another philosophy that believes we are born with karma.

Laura & Furry Kids - This is part of the "issue" I have with this particular book, a Purpose Drive Life. He doesn't take into consideration other religions and paths to God.
Elizabeth - The word in Aramaic that was frequently used by Jesus for God, is "Abwoon." "Abwoon" means "Holy Father/Sacred Mother/All that is."  “Abwoon” is actually the word used by Jesus as the first word of the Lord’s Prayer, which in English is most frequently translated, “Our Father.”  It doesn’t mean, “Our Father.”  It means, “Holy Father/Sacred Mother, All that is.”
Marge - so Liz, more recent editions of texts that refer to God as 'he' once again are changes made to the writings by almighty 'man'.

GirlyGirls - Gosh, you think so Laura? Someone gave me the book for Christmas, or a daily meditation book based on it, and I didn't get that at all.
GirlyGirls - It's just some daily meditation on scripture stuff. . .
Elizabeth - More literally, the "Ah" sound of "Abwoon" means "one mind, one consciousness, the one all" ... the "b" sound, means "two", the "union", the "duality" ... the "wooon" sound means "that which has soul and is Divine" ... so "Abwoon" means, ...

Marge - Laura .. did you see Barbara's interview with the Dalai Lama ... it included her interviews with many others ... very interesting when she interviewed a born again Christian minister ... she's pretty sharp!
Laura & Furry Kids - No, I didn't. I really don't watch TV anymore, other than the Y&R about three times a week!
Elizabeth - "One mind, one consciousness, all that is, comprised of energy and matter, imbued with Soul, self-created one" ... that's what it means. That's a little different from "He."  Marge, I have tremendous respect for Barbara Walters!  I’d love to meet her one day!

GirlyGirls - I don't think everything that is worthwhile has to include every different kind of belief. This is apart from the fact that I haven't got the actual text, I guess, just a daily meditation book.
Marge - I'd heard that the Dalai Lama was going to be on, so I made a point of watching it! I absolutely love him!
Laura & Furry Kids - What's really wierd is my book publicist is a born again Christian.
Elizabeth - Marge, yes, I watched most of the show, not all of it.
Laura & Furry Kids - TV isn't my thing right now, but I always learn or read about what was on TV!
GirlyGirls - There are plenty of people with differnt ways of expressing their faith. I try not to profile them. I have a lifelong friend who has been a born-again since we were kids; she is open, and loving, and a dear, dear person. There are others who are obsessed with finding evil in all around them, and have a lot of fear and control issues. Just like in anything, any belief system, religious or otherwise, in life, there are lots of peas in the pod.
Laura & Furry Kids - I think I was supposed to read this book to understand the view point, as once my book is into stores, Tim will be lining me up with Christian radio stations first - go figure!
Elizabeth - Marge, if enlightenment means being on purpose, being connected, being without negative thoughts, being in good-natured centeredness ... then the Dalai Lama is definitely an example of that ... even if he doesn't think so!  GG, good point!
Marge - So Liz, did I miss reading something back a bit about how you'd define 'enlightenment'?

Marge - I agree, Liz
Laura & Furry Kids - I know people who were damaged by the Catholic religion, for example, and others who thrive in it.
Marge - okay, you summed it up beautifully, Liz
karenamarc - Me, too, Liz.
GirlyGirls - I don't think anyone was damaged by Catholicism itself. . in any event, if you really understand the teachings. Damaged by people who claim to represent the Church? Sure. Again, just like in any organization, the folks who run it are people, not angels. ..
Elizabeth - Marge, I'm not sure I'm really defining enlightenment. I'm exploring how enlightened people seem to me to be or not be. To me, there appears to be a physiology of it, a way that people who may be enlightened express themselves. To me, as I sense them, they feel connected completely up and down their spinal columns (perhaps this means their kundalini has risen and it’s healthy and vibrant), they have minds connected to their hearts, and they're living from the top layers of their heads, 3rd eye level and up, relative to their layers of mind. This is what I have noticed.

karenamarc - I think we all have to find our own way and find out what works best for us.
Laura & Furry Kids - Is it possible we are all enlightened from birth and we're just pulling off layers to define what enlightenment means to us as individuals?
Marge - great observation, Liz.
Elizabeth - And what seems to express from enlightened people is clarity. What seems to not express or even be present in enlightened people, is negativity or confusion. What is also not present, is judgment.
GirlyGirls - Well, God certainly did not make us out of cookie cutters, and reveals Himself in different ways to different people, always. . .even reveals Himself differently to people who worship in the same church, I'm sure!! : - )
Laura & Furry Kids - I feel thinking of one person as enlightened, and another person as not, is a falsehood and sets people up for separation mentality.
Marge - ... and I don't think any particular religion can teach that! ... you have to get it! ... individually!
Elizabeth – Laura: perhaps it occurs for you that way, it doesn’t occur for me that way. All: I have come to believe, that there may be 5 billion people on the planet, and there may also be 5 billion religions, since I have come to believe, that each person's belief system is slightly different from any other person's; and that each person has his/her own path to recognizing God, and recognizing him/her-self as God.  Or not.
GirlyGirls - Well, I think it's practical Laura. . .I mean, I don't find murderers anywhere near enlightened, or holy. . and there are certainly priests in my own beloved Catholicism who I think are "real priests" and those, who bless them, may be trying real hard, or not even trying real hard!!
Elizabeth - Barbara Walters herself said in the show about Heaven: Is there one or not, that there are over 3,000 religions on the planet. I think her number was way low.
Marge - I agree wholeheartedly with that , Liz

Elizabeth - There is a zen saying, Enlightenment always comes as an accident. Spiritual practice simply makes us accident-prone.

Elizabeth - There is great talk among profound spiritual circles now that everyone currently living on our planet, will become enlightened within the next six years.

Elizabeth - I have come to feel, that spiritual people are looking for their own path to God; and that spiritual people may or may not also be religious people. I have also come to feel, that religious people may not be spiritual people, since they may simply be absorbing and accepting their understanding of someone else's interpretation of God. Each person has his/her own path. We have the opportunity to honor the journey.  Laura, to answer something you asked a while ago:  Enlightenment for me is an energy, a way of being.  It is also a word and therefore could be termed a “label” by some, however, that is not the experience here.

Elizabeth - GG, yes, I know. The Mayan calendar ends at 2012, I learned when I was in Mexico studying with Mayans.  There is a deep belief there, that human consciousness as we know it, ends in 2012.

Elizabeth - It seems highly possible. There are some powerful movements underway to bring spirituality, to bring enlightenment, to the country most spiritualists believe needs it the most ... that would be the U.S. :)
Dee&Phoebe&Zoe - for our human conscious to shift from what it seems now, to total enlightenment- something bigs a gonna happen
karenamarc - I had learned the one about human conscious shifts at Omega at the Shaman Weekend.
Elizabeth - Dee, there are over 4,000 people now in place, who can transfer enlightenment to others ... the entrainment of the energy of enlightenment ... and although the first one "may not take" depending on how a person is, how much negativity, how much resistance, with repeated receiving, it WILL take ... entrainment is an irrefutable spiritual principle. So it's not that far fetched.

Elizabeth - Laura, my belief is that enlightenment is a way of being. I can see how you would feel the way you say, but this is not the experience here.

Elizabeth - What I loved about the Dalai Lama when I was with him last September, is the good-natured awareness, the sense of deep purpose, and the sense of mind control, that emanate from him always ... a very powerful role model for me.

Elizabeth - The Toltec view is that we are born enlightened and then we become "domesticated" by our communities, our parents, our civilizations... and that to the degree that we become "domesticated", to that degree, we lose our spirits, our free expression, and our connection. We have to work to get it back.

How do you know he was supposed to do that? Because he did. It's the reality. When you argue with reality, you lose. And you suffer.

GirlyGirls - I believe we are, each one of us, a perfect thought of the Creator. We come in with a lot of stuff already set up. .. environment, psychology of parents, "sins of the father" so to speak, generational vibrations that effect us from the moment we are conceived into form. Our job, I think is to try, during this lifetime, to return to that perfect thought of God that we are, and to present that to Him when we leave this form for the next life, as our gift of gratitude for the gift of who we are, our life, our spirit, our form and being with all it is without all the disruption (and maybe the lessons given with the disruption, too!)

Elizabeth - Marge, yes ... she keystrokes with the wind, she's so fast, and she's accurate, and she understands the jobs ... police, fire, ambulance ... she has a totally level head in crisis situations ... and she has near-perfect recall. She'll be GREAT at it!
Elizabeth - The "keystrokes with the wind" part comes from the fact that they are required to key in everything they hear over the 9-1-1 telephone ...
Marge - Wow, Liz! She's obviously gifted and perfect for that job!
Elizabeth – She was given a large number of tests for this job.  One "test" involved her listening to quite a lot of background noise including screaming and yelling and needing to be able to distinguish the voice of a small child in a closet crying and terrified and saying that his daddy was beating his mommy and threatening to kill her and he was scared and could the police please come ... she handled it with calmness and poise and immediate action. Amazing test, eh?
Elizabeth - There was a lot more involved in the testing procedure, but this is the one that got MY attention!
karenamarc - Wow!
Marge - Oh my goodness, .. how many could make it through a test like that!?!
Elizabeth - She was to figure out that it was the child who was on the phone, figure out that he was in the closet, keep him there and safe, while she gathered the information and dispatched the officers ...
